In January 2008, the General Office of National State Council issued a notice to forbid the produce, sales and use of ultra-thin plastic shopping bags in all parts of China, hereafter, carry out the paid use system of plastic shopping bags. From June 1, free plastic shopping bags are not allowed to provide in all supermarkets, shopping malls and other retail places.
